Camden's House - Attic Room / Petrowski's House - Peter's Room

Ruthie on Phone: You're sick? But you were fine yesterday. Maria's going to be real disappointed. She was looking forward to seeing you at church. She likes you.

Peter on Phone: Don't you think Maria wanting to see me today is strange?

Ruthie on Phone: Maria doesn't have a lot of friends she just got here. She likes you and she likes me, what's the problem?

Peter on Phone: I guess... I just don't like her.

Ruthie on Phone: You don't like her... why?

Peter on Phone: Can't we just leave it at I don't like her?

Ruthie on Phone: You can leave it however, you want and you can also leave me alone.

Peter on Phone: What?

Ruthie on Phone: I think your being rude and insensitive, and I'm hanging up.

Camden's House - Martin's Room

Martin: Come in.

Martin: Just go away.

Mac: Come on, we're best friends. I don't want to lose you over this.

Martin: Over this. This isn't just a this; this is someone I care for, someone I love. This is Cecilia. And now, thanks to you, I don't have this anymore.

Mac: Cecilia didn't break up with you because of me and what I said.

Martin: Excuse me?

Mac: Cecilia has been talking to Simon.

Martin: What?

Mac: I heard Cecilia talked to Simon.

Martin: When? Where? How? And, and you know about this because...

Mac: I just know. And if you don't believe me, check it out yourself.

Camden's House - Upstairs Hallway

Eric: Hello...

Martin: I don't wanna talk about it.

Eric: Good morning, Maria. Are you okay?

Maria: Please, I don't want to talk.

Eric: You were out all night with Heather.

Matt: I don't wanna talk about it.

Eric: You should call Sarah. She called last night looking for you.

Matt: And you told her who I was with.

Eric: No... Peter did. He, he didn't mean to it just slipped out. He didn't know not to tell your wife you had a date.

Annie: What's going on?

Eric: Oh, plenty, no one's talkin'.

Annie: Oh...

Eric: Is that smile for me or for Simon?

Annie: Simon's comin' home.

Eric: Only for the summer.

Annie: A mom can dream, can't she?

Chandler's House

Jeffrey: Oh, just call her you know you want to.

Chandler: It's polite to knock.

Jeffrey: Yeah, I know about knocking, but sometimes when you sneak up on people, you get a lot more information. So are you going to call her? Well, you better call Kendal and ask her out, before I grow up and beat you to it.

Chandler: One I don't like Kendal in that way and two even if I did, she has a boyfriend.

Jeffrey: Do you smell that?

Chandler: Gas?

Jeffrey: No, chicken.

Camden's House - Garage Apartment

Lucy: I'm going to church with my family.

Kevin: Fine, I'll go by myself.

Lucy: And then I'm going to spend the afternoon with my family.

Kevin: Fine...

Lucy: You, you aren't allowed to use fine. Fine is my word, not yours. I do the fine thing, not you. Got it?

Kevin: Fine...

New York Hospital

Carlos: I can't believe that this is really happening. I'm going to be a father. I mean, by the end of today, I'm going to be a daddy.

Nurse: You wife is doing great.

Carlos: Ah, I'm not. I need people. I need my family here. Her family here. I mean our families should be here, right? Nah, Mary doesn't want our families here.

Nurse: It's okay. You're okay. You're all going to be okay.

Camden's House - Kitchen

Eric: Still no answer?

Annie: No, not at home. Not on Carlos' cell phone, not, not on Mary's cell phone. I, I just don't understand where they could be.

Eric: Well, I'm sure Mary's fine, I'm sure there's some logical explanation why we can't reach them. Keep calling.

Petrowski's House - Kitchen

Paris: You missed a good sermon.

Peter: I'm sick. I am.

Paris: Okay, so today was your last sick-but-you-know-and-I-both-know-you're-not-sick day. So, I suggest that if you can't talk to me about whatever's bothering you, you find somebody you can talk to.

Glenoak Community Church - Church Office

Chandler: Ah, you're here.

Kendal: We need to talk. I can't work with Jeffrey if you have something else in mind. I see the way you look at me and you practically asked me out on a date last night.

Chandler: Ah, you must think a lot of yourself.

Kendal: I do, but we're not talking about me, we're talking about you. Apparently a very lonely you, a you who is looking for a girlfriend, a relationship... I can't be that person. I don't like you like that. So we don't have a potential problem here.

Chandler: No... I don't like you.

Kendal: Well, I don't like you either.

Chandler: Okay...

Kendal: So I guess I'll see you and Jeffrey tomorrow.

Roxanne: I got your message. What's up?

Kevin: I don't know what to do with Lucy. She's acting nuts, but more nuts than usual. And it's not just that she's been pushing me to get promoted at work, she's been acting strange all week.

Roxanne: You called me out here to talk about Lucy. You aren't going to ask what I've been doing for the past several months. What I was doing yesterday?

Kevin: Hey, your life is your life, if you want to tell me something, you will, if not, it's not my business.

Roxanne: It kind of is your business. Because what I'm doing affects both of us. You're my partner... but not for much longer.

Kevin: I heard about you goin' for detective, I think it's great. It's Lucy who has a problem with it.

Roxanne: What?

Kevin: Lucy's upset that you might be getting promoted ahead of me. I know it's silly, but she just won't let it go.

Roxanne: Kevin, I'm not getting a promotion. I don't want to be detective. I don't even want to be a cop. I think you better sit down.

New York Hospital - Hallway

Sarah: I just got your message. Mary's in labor?

Carlos: Look you need to go. Mary doesn't want to see any family. She thinks that if she has one family member then she going to have all family members. Hers, mine and that's too many. I need to go check on her.

Sarah: Well, I can't just leave.

Carlos: Well you have to. Will you do me a favor though?

Sarah: Name it.

Carlos: Can you call Mary's parents and let them know she's in labor.

Sarah: They don't know.

Carlos: I told you she doesn't want to see anyone.

Sarah: So...

Carlos: So, Mary should never know that we had this conversation.

Sarah: But, I can't call there. I could Matt and I can't talk to him right now. Right... Mary is having a baby, so I'll just put my petty feeling aside and do what I need to do, even if that is talking to my husband, who I stupidly push into seeing his old girlfriend. Oh...

Nurse: Your wife is asking for you. Are you Sarah, Matt's wife? She wants you to go home and don't call anyone and I think she means it.

Camden's House - Martin's Room / Cecilia's House

Phone: (rings)

Cecilia on Phone: Hello?

Martin on Phone: Hi...

Cecilia's House / Gas Station

Cecilia on Phone: Hello?

Simon on Phone: Cecilia?

Cecilia on Phone: Simon? Hi. How's the road?

Simon on Phone: It's good, it's good. I'm just taking a break I'm getting some gas. I thought I'd call you.

Cecilia on Phone: Why?

Simon on Phone: Something's wrong. It's me isn't it? My coming home. You're, you're uncomfortable with Martin and me under the same roof, right?

Cecilia on Phone: Everything's fine. I'm fine. You'll see when you get here. But really, I have to go Martin's waiting for me.

Simon on Phone: Okay but we don't wanna... Hello, hello, Cec...

Camden's House - Martin's Room

Eric: Is everything okay?

Martin: No.

Martin: Cecilia won't talk to me.

Eric: I'll talk to you.

Martin: See, that's nice, but I, I don't want to talk to you; I want to talk to her. Is Simon talking to Cecilia?

Eric: What?

Martin: Do you know if Simon has been talking to Cecilia?

Eric: I don't know.

Camden's House - Upstairs Hallway

Eric: So... I'm curious.

Matt: I bet you are.

Eric: The reason you weren't in church today... It wasn't because you couldn't face God after spending the night with your ex-girlfriend, was it?

Matt: I can face God.

Eric: Can you face Sarah?

Matt: I, I would love to stand here and have you cross-examine me, but I have a...

Eric: ...you have a date. What again... with Heather? You can't have a date you're married.

Matt: Dad, just stay out of this.

Eric: I can't, I can't just stand by and watch you throw your marriage away.

Matt: Yeah, you can. It's my life, my marriage, my business, now if you'll excuse me, I don't want to keep Heather waiting.

Camden's House - Attic Room

Ruthie: What are you doing?

Maria: I think I should go home.

Ruthie: To Mexico.

Maria: Yes...

Ruthie: No...

Maria: Peter doesn't like me and I don't want to cause problems. I really like you.

Ruthie: I don't care about Peter. If he has problems, they're his problems.

Maria: I should just go home. No one likes me in America. I'll talk to Miss Simpson tomorrow.

Camden's House - Kitchen

Phone: (rings)

Matt: Hello? Hello?

Sarah: Hello...I need to speak to your dad. Mary is... well, I need to speak to your dad.

Matt: What's wrong with Mary? Is she in labor? Is there a problem, talk to me.

Sarah: I'm not authorized to talk to you, nor do I wish to talk to you. Just put your father on the phone, we can fight later.

Matt: Look, if you're upset about last night...

Sarah: Or we can fight now.

Matt: So you were upset about last night.

Sarah: Upset? Why would I be upset that my husband had a date with an ex-girlfriend? Why would I find that upsetting? I'm happy for you. I mean you waited almost a whole day before you started cheating on me.

Matt: I'm not cheating.

Sarah: Uh-huh, so you two are what, bowling partners? I thought when we got back together; we were really going to try salvage our marriage. Is this your idea of working through our problems? Dating other woman?

Matt: I can't talk to you when you're like this.

Sarah: You can't talk to me period, which is why you ran back home this summer. Now, put your father on the phone. Oh, and make sure to tell Heather your wife says hi.

Matt: It's for you.

Sarah: Reverend Camden?

Eric: Sarah, hi...

Sarah: I need to talk to you.

Eric: About Matt?

Sarah: No, about Mary. I'm not supposed to know anything, but...

Petrowski's House - Kitchen

Vic: What make you think Maria is in love with you?

Peter: She said that she wanted me to help her with her math homework. She told Ruthie she likes me.

Vic: Well, if Maria's in love with you, why would she tell your girlfriend? And why would your girlfriend be okay with hanging out with her? If she's in love with you, I think that's something Ruthie would notice.

Peter: I know she likes me and if she goes after me, it'll just cause problems.

Vic: Goes after you? What is she a tiger shark, she's a girl. She gonna attack you after gym class. I'd say, Peter, you sound a little nuts. Okay, well, if you think what you think, why don't you just talk to Maria and tell her you're just not interested.

Peter: I heard she doesn't take no for an answer.

Vic: You heard.

Peter: In gym class... these guys were talking about her.

Vic: About Maria? What'd they say?

Cecilia's House

George: I'm sorry, I tried but Cecilia won't talk to you.

Martin: Is she talking to Simon? Well, is she?

George: Son, I don't know. Look, um, I was just going to have a sandwich. Have you had lunch, are you hungry?

Pete's Pizza

Pam: I don't know why I came.

Mac: Because you still like me?

Pam: I don't think what I feel for you is like.

Mac: But you do feel something?

Pam: I'm here, aren't I?

Mac: Please, just sit and let me beg and grovel for your forgiveness. I came prepared to do both. So what do you want first, begging or groveling?

Pam: What's the difference?

Mac: Groveling involves a lot of kneeling.

Glenoak Community Church - Church Office

Chandler: What are you doing?

Kendal: Shut up, okay, if you talk I might change my mind.

Chandler: Change your mind... well you have a boyfriend.

Kendal: I know.

Chandler: And you don't like me.

Kendal: I know.

Chandler: But, I...

Kendal: Just shut up.

Chandler: Okay.

Heather: What do you want?

Matt: I could go for a burger. Oh, you mean what do I want out of this... you and me. First, is there a you and me? Okay, well, let's just assume that there's a chance for you and me. What do you want?

Heather: What do I want? I want to start over. I want to have not married the man I did. I want to have not wasted the last three-years of my life in a loveless marriage, and the last year of my life in a messy and ugly divorce... I guess I want a do-over.

Matt: So do I have a role in your done-over new life?

Heather: Matt, you're married.

Matt: I'm gonna ask Sarah for a divorce. So, now do you see me in your life?

Camden's House - Garage Apartment

Roxanne: Lucy, I talked to Kevin. I'm not trying to get promoted at work. I'm joining the Army. I wanna to go Iraq.

Camden's House - Kitchen

Annie: Ah, what's goin' on?

Eric: Sarah called... for Carlos.

Annie: And...

Eric: You guys should go get Happy and I'll help you take her for a walk.

Eric: Mary is in the hospital.

Annie: What?

Eric: She's gone into labor... but she doesn't want any of us there.

Annie: Any of us? You mean you and me?

Eric: Yeah...

Camden's House - Attic Room

Maria: Ruthie isn't here.

Peter: I came to talk to you and Ruthie knows I'm here. I'm sorry for the way I've been treating you.

Maria: It's okay, all the boys at school treat me the same way.

Peter: Yeah, some of the guys at school were talking about you in the locker room.

Maria: In the locker room, in the halls, in the cafeteria, in the classroom, the playground...

Peter: So who started it?

Maria: Jack Reed.

Peter: Yeah, he has a pretty big mouth.

Maria: He asked me out. I said no. I told him, I have a boyfriend back in Mexico.

Peter: Well, the only thing bigger than Jack's mouth is his ego.

Maria: So after I told Jack no, I heard some other boys talking about how Jack said I kissed him and that I kissed all these other boys, and that I asked Jack out but he said no, because I was, well, I don't want to repeat what he said I was. None of what he said was true, hurtful, but not true. If you had just gotten to know me, you would have seen that. I didn't want to date you, Peter, I just wanted to be your friend.

Peter: Look, I was an idiot, or a guy, which in this case is the same thing... so maybe we could start over. Could you give me another chance? Of course, to do that, you'd have to stay in Glenoak, which I hope you'll do.

Ruthie: So... are you stayin'?

Cecilia's House

George: So, uh, are you coming out of your room today?

Cecelia: I'm really upset with Martin.

George: The sex thing? Martin and I had lunch we talked.

Cecilia: About me?

George: You should talk to him.

Cecilia: Not after what he did.

George: And what exactly did he do?

Cecilia: Well, he told...

George: He told Mac the truth, right?

Cecilia: Yes, but he was talking about us, about our relationship.

George: But he was only doing that to set the record start, to protect your reputation, which you have to admit was kinda brave. I mean the guys on the team, having them think that you and he had done something made him seem pretty cool, right. So it seems to me that most guys would just keep their mouth shut and let everyone think they were cool. You know that Martin is only guilty of having a friend who isn't quite as mature as he is. And I think that you'd rather be angry with Martin than face what's really upsetting you. This is about Simon isn't it? I know Simon's coming home for the summer. What I don't know is how you feel about? Wanna talk?

Camden's House - Kitchen

Roxanne: So, without the draft, the armed services need more people to volunteer. They need military police most of all. Now that the war's over they need MP's to back up the Army and to help the Iraqi people rebuild their country.

Lucy: Iraq, Iraq? The Iraq next to Iran, over in the Middle East, that Iraq? So you just went out and joined the Army.

Roxanne: I took the test yesterday. If all goes well, I'll should be leaving for basic training next week.

Lucy: You do know that President Bush is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, that includes the Army.

Roxanne: So?

Lucy: I though you hated President Bush.

Roxanne I never hated him. I just didn't agree with his politics, or the war. Look, this isn't about politics. This is about me and doing something important with my life. And I hope I have your support.

Lucy: Hey...

Martin: Hi...

Lucy: Is Cecilia coming over to dinner tonight?

Martin: Cecilia who? She doesn't want to talk to me. Or maybe I don't want to talk to her. Yeah, I don't think I want to talk to her. See how see likes being shutout.

Roxanne: So, if she calls?

Martin: Okay, I want to talk to her.

Martin: Love stinks. Is, ah, Simon coming to dinner?

Lucy: No, there's a traffic jam on the 5 freeway.

Roxanne: Hey, Martin are you okay?

Martin: Do I look okay.

Camden's House - Simon's Old Room

Sarah: Hi, you've reached Sarah...

Matt: and Matt...

Sarah): We're not here right now.

Matt: So leave a message at the beep.

Sarah/Matt: (laughing)

Matt: Mrs. Cain... Hi, this is Matt Camden. I wondering if you could give Heather a message for me.

Glenoak Community Church - Church Office

Jeffrey: Hello, you were supposed to pick me up an hour ago. The movies, remember?

Kendal: Sean...

Dean: Kendal...

Chandler: Sean...

Sean: Reverend Hampton... wait... you and him... together? But, but you said you hated him. That he was pretentious and annoying and weird.

Chandler: I guess she changed her mind.

Sean: You really want to be with him?

Kendal: Yeah, I think I do.

Chandler: Really?

Kendal: Yeah...

Sean: I'm still in the room.

Jeffrey: This is so much better that a movie.

Pam: What are you doing here?

Cecilia: I need to talk to you. I need to talk to someone. I'm really upset; it's about Martin, but not about the sex thing.

Pam: How did you know where to find me?

Cecilia: I called your house and your father told me you were at the promenade.

Pam: I can explain.

Mac: And I can apologize, if you'll let me.

Pam: Let him. He is sorry, he really is.

Cecilia: I know.

Mac: You do? You forgive me?

Cecilia: Yeah...

Mac: Thanks. Now, let's talk about what's going on with you and Simon?

Annie: I feel badly for leaving.

Eric: Simon will understand. And we'll see him in a couple of days. He'll be home all summer. Mary's gonna fine.

Annie: Promised me she's going to be fine and the baby's going to be fine.

Eric: I, I know she'll be fine. They'll both be fine, Carlos too.

Annie: Talk to God. Have you asked him for anything recently? Ask him to watch over Mary and the baby.

Eric: I already have.

Annie: Did you ask him to kinda slow things down until we get there?

Eric: No, but I asked him not to let Mary react badly when we do.

Camden's House - Living Room

Cecilia: I just heard. Mary's having her baby.

Martin: Yeah... Reverend and Mrs. Camden are flying out to be with her.

Cecilia: Great...

Martin: Yeah...

Cecilia: Mac and Pam are back together. Pam forgave him for his momentary slip of ethics.

Martin: And what about me? Do you forgive me?

Cecilia: No... I can't forgive you because you didn't really do anything.

Martin: I love you.

Cecilia: I know, I think we need to talk about. I took an opportunity to be upset with you because, well, because it was easier than facing some pretty hard truths about us.

Cecilia: I want some space. No, that's a lie... I want to break up.

Martin: I knew it.

Cecilia: You knew it?

Martin: I know you talked to Simon.

Cecilia: How did you know? Oh, I told Pam.

Martin: And Pam told Mac and Mac told me.

Cecilia: Do you think it's too much to ask to have Mac stay out of our personal lives.

Martin: What lives? You're breaking up with me. And Mac was just trying to protect me. He was just trying to be a friend.

Cecilia: I'm not breaking up with you because Simon's coming home.

Martin: So, you haven't talked to him? You're not looking forward to him moving back to Glenoak?

Cecilia: He called me last night. He's not moving back, he's just coming back for the summer.

Martin: Just tell me the truth. Tell me why you don't want to date me. I can handle it.

Cecilia: You love me.

Martin: You're breaking up with me because I love you?

Cecilia: I don't love you. I mean, I care about you, but I don't love you. I thought I did, but I don't and that became very clear to me when all this talk of sex started.

Martin: Wait... I need to tell you something and you need to know this. I don't want to have sex with you. Let me finish. I made a promise to myself a while ago that I'm not gonna have sex until I'm married. So, if you think I'm gonna pressure into something or that all this talk about us doing things is gonna make me pressure you into something, I won't. I respect you and what we have... I'm happy with things just the way they are.

Cecilia: I'm two years older than you. And I'm going away to college next year.

Martin: So?

Cecilia: Come on, it's not fair to either one of us to take on a long-distance relationship at our age.

Martin: You aren't by any chance thinking of going to the same school as Simon?

Cecilia: Even if I do, I think it's best for us to break up. Sorry.

Camden's House - Dining Room

Vic: Thank you for having me to dinner.

Ruthie: Thanks for calling me about Peter.

Peter: Thanks for setting me straight.

Maria: Thanks for making me finally feel welcome in America.

Vic: So have you heard? Did Mary have the baby... is she naming if after me?

Ruthie: Well, mom and dad haven't gotten there, so I hope she hasn't had the baby yet. And I'm sorry, but I don't think they'll be naming him or her Vic, Jr.

Vic: Oh... so Maria tell me how this foreign exchange program works.

Maria: I will stay with the Camdens for the remainder of the school year. And next year, Ruthie will have the option of going to school in Mexico.

Vic: For how long?

Maria: As long as she wishes, I think. I have a friend who went to school in France for an entire year. Every school is different. Every program is different.

Vic: Do you want to go away for an entire year?

Ruthie: I don't know, maybe. Don't worry, I haven't decided about next year yet.

Vic: Can you come back here?

Maria: If my parents and the Camdens agreed, I could come back; I would like to come back. I like America now.

Peter: I hope you do come back.

Maria: So do I.

Ruthie: So do I.

Sam: Mi tambien.

David: Si.

Maria: Nuy bueno, Sam and David.

Sam: De nada.

Paris: Hello, everybody.

Peter: Hey, Mom.

Vic: Paris...

Paris: Ruthie invited me.

Ruthie: Maria, let's get the water glasses.

Maria: Los vasos de agua.

Ruthie: Si.

Paris: So, I take it everything that was wrong is now right?

Peter: Yeah, thanks to dad.

Paris: Well, thank you... dad. What?

Vic: I took a job in Glenoak and I found an apartment. I'm movin' in two weeks. What do you think?

Peter: I think that means she's okay with you moving in town.

Vic: Okay, who wants to help me get something... in the kitchen?

Peter: Yeah...

Mac: Ruthie let me in.

Martin: Cecilia broke up with me. Really broke up with me.

Mac: Man, I am sorrier than you'll ever know.

Martin: I'm not. I mean I loved her and she obviously didn't really love me, so as my dad would say that I'm better off without her.

Mac: So was it me or Simon?

Martin: It's not because of you.

Mac: Simon?

Martin: She says no, but I think yes.

Mac: So, ah, are we okay?

Martin: I'm sixteen. Trust me I will love again. Do wanna hit the batting cages after dinner?

Mac: You want me to stay for dinner?

Martin: Sure, why not.

Pool Hall

Matt: Thanks for meeting me.

Heather: My mother said it was important.

Matt: Ah, Mary's in labor.

Heather: Then what are you doing here?

Matt: She doesn't want any of us there.

Heather: Why?

Matt: She's Mary.

Heather: So you're not going?

Matt: But, I have a ticket on the redeye... and not just to see my niece or nephew. I need to talk to my wife. I love her and I don't want a divorce.

Heather: I don't want you to get a divorce either. I know how painful that is.

Matt: I'm sorry if I mislead you.

Heather: The last year of my life has been so difficult, that I have felt so unloved for so long, that when I saw you, it was like takin' a vacation from reality. But, it's time for me to make a new life for myself and for you to go home to your wife.

Matt: I do love you.

Heather: And I love you.

Matt: If you ever need anything...

Heather: I know.

Camden's House - Garage Apartment

Kevin: Dinner's almost ready.

Lucy: Anything from Mary and Carlos?

Kevin: Nope.

Lucy: And I can't call because they don't know mom and dad are on their way.

Kevin: Roxanne told me you invited her to dinner tonight. So you're okay with her going off to Iraq?

Lucy: No, but she's going.

Kevin: So is there something else that's bothering you?

Lucy: I want us to have a baby.

Kevin: Okay, we can have a baby... someday. Whenever we're ready and it's the right time.

Lucy: I wanna get pregnant now.

Kevin: Maybe that's because Mary's in labor.

Lucy: Or maybe it's not. I love you and I'm gonna finish school. I'm going to finish next December, if I go to summer school. And I wanna have a baby.

Kevin: Well...

Lucy: Well, let's just try, okay? I'm ready.

Kevin: We don't have a house. We don't have any place to put a baby.

Lucy: We can get a house. We can always get a house. And, I can start my career then take a break, have babies, get them to a certain age and then go back to my career, but I' don't want to that.

Kevin: So now, it's babies.

Lucy: Babies... I want a family, a big family. And I don't think it would keep me from doing what I, I wanna do. I'll find a way to work with our church or another church. But, I'm feeling an overwhelming desire to have a baby with you Kevin Kinkirk.

Kevin: Then let's go for it. But we made this decision before and then we backed off. If we're going to do this, then let's commit to it... for absolute certain... no turning back.
